A letter to self: the Secret Recipe to life

To: Amal

Life is like choosing what to eat at Secret Recipe.

You don't necessarily have to order Chocolate Indulgence cake to indulge yourself. Because ordering what is clearly stated as 'indugling' is just too mainstream.

Of course it is more worthwhile to spend on something that is known for its good taste and ability to indulge you. It's like the shortcut to happiness. Everyone wants it!

But that is just not what life is like. No?

Most of the time, you gotta choose other dishes, cakes. I get tired of chocolate indulgence, and at times, I can't even finish a single slice.

Sometimes you just feel like trying new things. Though you might get frustrated at times with the taste of the overly sweet carrot cake, or annoyed as you have to wait for 30 minutes for your fish and chips.

It is annoying and frustrating, as most of us see it. But don't you think it can be 'indulging' too, Amal? Perhaps more indulging than taking the shortcut to happiness.

Ok. Normal human being will definitely complain, feel lost, get mad, rant, or cry when terrible things happen in life. But to experience the ups and downs, taking the long and winding road can offer more than just indulgence, don't you think so?

Try to laugh at it after all the rants, complaints, and tears (not that you are crazy. But see it from a more positive perspective, I mean). Laugh it off. Try to seek happiness in it. Because as you continue to see life and problems as hard and complicated, that's when the door to an even harder and complicated life opens.

And of course, the main key to a happy, peaceful, and blessed life: turn to God when bad thing strikes. Everything is hard to you. But not to Him. Simply because you are weak while He is the Most Powerful and Most Reliable of all. So lean and rely on Him.

People often say that learning things the hard way actually makes you even closer to Him, makes you an even better person. You just have to lean on Him, and believe in Him, to survive.

Good luck Amal.

P.s. I wish I can just laugh when I have to pay for something that are not worth the money. Like paying for a butter prawn with rice when they actually served me somethingggg like butter prawn. Only that it has a well-cooked fly in it.
